How?
Our RUC projects have been carefully developed to encourage independence and exploration, while prioritising a supportive and inclusive environment.
And we are all about film.
30 Creatives for each RUC production are selected through open applications. All you need is an interest in film and a determination to get stuck into the film production process. When all roles have been filled, Creatives will receive a virtual screenplay and welcome pack, with information about their role and materials to support them throughout the production. In between in-person sessions, all Creatives will have tasks to complete - at the benefit of the film, and of their development within their role.
Each production week takes place during school holidays, and pre-production workshop days are on Sundays. Specific dates will be released as per each production launch.

Guest professionals day
Workshops led by experienced industry professionals - focusing on acting for screen, cinematic storytelling and on-set production.
Progress workshop day

Pre-shoot prep call
A 2 hour virtual call - discussions, issues, plans. Basically, our first step into production.
5 day production week
5 days of professionally-structured film production driven by our Creatives. Staff are there to support, but the film is in your hands.
Post-shoot reflection call
A production cool down. What are we happy with? What could we have done differently? A self reflection and feedback session.
Post-production period
Our Reels Up team edit the RUC film together - while Creatives can make their own trailers, to be released in the film's marketing campaign.
Film premiere
A celebration of your achievements, and a chance to share your work on the big screen with friends and family.
That's a wrap.
And then we do it all again with a whole new group of Creatives.

Reels Up Creatives has two intentions: teach the tools of filmmaking, and inspire a passion for using them. This is where our entire structure and scheme stems from. We have devised each session with a key purpose, and each Creatives role comes with its own task list and responsibilities. Creatives are always supported by Reels Up staff and professionals, and we apply stringent safeguarding measures throughout. It is within a safe, welcoming environment that creativity and exploration thrive.
