SCREENWRITING PROJECTS
In-depth, creative screenwriting workshops designed to help young people turn their ideas into cinematic stories.
RUC Screenwriting workshops/sessions are designed to introduce young Creatives to the craft of screenwriting, and to guide them through the process of writing their own short film screenplay. Creatives will learn about structure, character, style, 'beats' and dialogue - but most importantly, they will explore how they can best turn their creative ideas into stories for the screen.
Differentiated for age groups and specific needs, all of our Screenwriting workshops are accessible, and created for young Creatives with no prior screenwriting experience. The proliferation of online creative platforms has made visual storytelling second nature to young people - and our workshops aim to help them apply that storytelling to the page, in a way that will be best captured on camera.
Step-by-step, practical workshop sessions that lead Creatives through to the point of writing their own short film screenplay.
Each project is specially designed for groups across KS2-KS4 (7-17 years old). Projects can be catered to correlate with in-curriculum lessons and projects.
Delivered as one-off sessions or long-running projects.
Creatives learn the standard practices and structure of screenwriting, and apply them to their own work.
Activities that begin from the idea phase, and guide them through the entire process, both collaboratively and independently.
Screenplays can be handwritten or typed, depending on group/class preference.
Spearheaded by the questions: What is your story? How can you best tell it as a film?
